Operating Crew It takes many
volunteer
members both on the train and at the station to run the
Prairie Dog Central Railway every
operating day.
The operating crew are trained and licensed
under the C.R.O.R. (Canadian Rail Operating Rules) and First Aid.
Our Engine Crew on Steam Locomotive #3
or Classic Diesel 4138 consists of the
Locomotive Engineer who is responsible
for the overall operation and safe movement of the locomotive and the
train, and the Fireman who is responsible for maintaining the working
boiler steam pressure of the locomotive as well as working closely with
the Engineer in the safe operation of the train.
The Train Crew consists of the Conductor who is responsible for the
overall safe conduct of the train in accordance with the operating rules
and the Brakeman who is responsible for general safety as well as
assisting with all switching movements.
Rounding out the On-Train crew are the Porters who are responsible for
the safety, comfort and supervision of passengers.
Our Off-Train Staff includes the Ticket Office Staff who are responsible for
general affairs at the Station including selling tickets, the
Souvenir
Sales staff who are responsible for sales of souvenirs and
gifts.
Volunteers
We are always looking for volunteers. There are many different and
interesting ways to become involved with the Prairie Dog Central Railway
both in terms of our operations as well as maintenance and other
activities which keep our railway and Society functioning smoothly. If
you want to see how you can become involved with a great group of
people, stop by on a Wednesday or a Saturday and meet some of our
people, take a look at the membership
page, send an
email, call (204) 832-5259 or
send a fax
to 1-866-751-2348 (toll free within North America).
