Station History
The
Prairie Dog Central train operates from Inkster Junction Station on
Prairie Dog Trail near Inkster and Sturgeon. (see
location)
It was constructed in 1910 by the Canadian Northern Railway as the
southernmost station on what was called the Oak Point Subdivision. It
was first called “Westside Station” and renamed St. James Station. It
was moved to Inkster Junction in February, 2000.
In
1991, St. James Station was declared a historic building by Parks
Canada Heritage.
The Society purchased the Station from CN in 1999, and following the
necessary approvals from Parks Canada Heritage, it was moved to its’
present location in February 2000.
The
plans for the Station were produced in the book Canadian National’s
Western Stations, by
Charles W. Bohi and Leslie S. Kozma
and
